Is receiving faxes really free ? Will it stay a FREE service
?
If you choose a FREEFAX number (0866xxxxxx) you don't pay a
cent. NO SETUP, NO MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. This
service will remain FREE and there is no limit to the number and size
of faxes received.
Is sending faxes via email also free ?
Email2Fax is available but it's NOT FREE. For this service you need to
purchase credits. Please see the document “How to buy Credits with
FaxMagic”.
If this is free how can you provide me with a sustainable
service ?
We receive our revenue from the calls made to your 0866xxxxxx fax
number. Calls to your number are charged at R2.02 per minute (INCL VAT)
by Telkom and we receive a portion of that revenue. In return we can
offer you a FREE service. This compares with the usual cost of around
R0.59 per minute (INCL VAT) charged by Telkom when dialling a standard
number.
Each time I dial my allocated number I get a message that says
the number does not exist ?
These numbers can only be dialled from a Telkom line. If you try and
dial it from a cellular phone then some of the cellular networks will
report such a message or give an engaged tone. Some company PABX
systems will also block access to these numbers, as they would calls to
cellular networks.
Can my number receive calls from anywhere ?
Not for 0866xxxxxx numbers. Calls can only be received from South
African telecommunications networks. NO INTERNATIONAL CALLS. If you
decide to purchase a CELLFAX, LOCALFAX or FAXPLUS subscription you can
receive calls from anywhere. For more information, please see the

If I take a 0866xxxxxx number and don't use it will it remain
available ?
No. We reserve the right to reclaim a number if there has been no
usage for 60-days. You will receive a warning email prior to the number
being reclaimed. As long as you receive at least one fax every 60-days
the number will remain yours.
Do I need to install any special software?
No. The FAX is sent to you as a TIF image attached to an email. Most
operating systems have a default viewer application installed. However
if that doesn't work for you, we provide a link where you can download
a FREE TIF Image viewer.
How long do I have to wait for a number?
There's no delay. The moment you complete the sign-up process the
number is allocated and activated, ready to take faxes and send them to
your email.
Can I get an SMS notification each time a fax arrives
?
Yes, but it's not a free service. The charge is R29 per 100 SMS
notifications. You can login and purchase credits online. Please see
the document, “How to buy Credits with FaxMagic”.
I am being logged out from a successful session on the web
site, what's going on ? How do I enable Session Cookies on my Browser
?
You need to enable session cookies within your Internet Browser. If
you're using Internet Explorer, click on Tools | Internet Options |
Privacy | Advanced, select the options as follows and then click OK
What are CELLFAX, LOCALFAX and FAXPLUS numbers for and
how do I get a number?

How do I purchase credits?

Will I receive an invoice for credits
purchased?
Yes you will. Please be sure to enter your details correctly to
receive a complete invoice.
I wish to be able to send faxes from my email. What must I
do?
Please see the document “How to send a fax” in the "Help Files"

What file types can I attach when sending a
fax?
Many different file types are supported. This includes JPG, TIFF, BMP,
MS OFFICE (xls, doc, ppt), and PDF. The most reliable format of all to
use is PDF. To convert files to PDF, use a PDF converter. A free PDF
converter can be downloaded from
www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp. This allows the conversion
of almost all file types to PDF.
How long does it take to send/receive a fax?
All faxes travel via the fax servers dotted around South Africa. Faxes
will be delivered within 15 minutes. Usually it takes a lot less than
this – 1 to 2 minutes. To see real time statistics on how busy the
servers are, login, go to “MyAccount” and click on the reports link.

I was sent a fax yesterday and wish to have it resent. What
do I do?

I have 2 email accounts and I would like to have faxes sent
to both accounts. Can I do this?
Yes. Once you have logged in, click on “MyAccount”. Then click on the
FAXTOEMAIL option and enter the 2nd email address you wish to use in
the appropriate box.
I have purchased credits for the EMAIL2FAX service. I would
like multiple emails to be able to send faxes and use these credits.
Can I do this?
Yes you can. Login and go to “MyAccount”. Here you should click on the
EMAIL2FAX link. You are able to enter a number of email addresses who
can use the available credits. Alternatively you can specify that all
users of a domain can use the credits. E.g. if your business uses the
domain FaxMagic.co.za, then you could enter this domain and allow all
users on this domain to use the service rather then entering each
address individually.
I cannot remember my login details. What do I
do?
Visit www.FaxMagic.co.za and click on the login button. Here you will
see a link to help you if you have forgotten your details.
Is there a limit to the number of fax numbers I can be
allocated?
No you can sign up for as many as you like.
If I got a new e-mail address and want my faxes to be sent
to this new address, would I be able to change it on my FaxMagic
account?
Yes, you can. Please see the document “How to change your e-mail
address” under the "help Files" section
